Huang Dexiang specializes in the research on building fire protection and the development of codes and standards. Not only did Huang research into the subjects supported by the National Key Technologies R&D Program of China during the Eighth and Ninth Five-Year Plan Periods, but he also participated in the development of GB 50016 Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings, GB 50045 Code for Fire Protection Design of Tall Buildings and GB 51251 Technical Standard for Smoke Management Systems in Buildings. The development of GB 50045 Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings won the second prize of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS)'s Science and Technology Progress Award. Additionally, Huang has been responsible for the review and demonstration of fire safety of key programs in a variety of different locations.
